I'm having trouble joining MatchMkr — what do I do?
We've recently removed a lot of the security procedures we'd put in place to allow new members to join more easily. This was mainly due to incompatibilities with AOL users. So if you're returning to try registering again, you should find that it now allows you in.
If you're still having problems with registration, make sure that the on-screen alerts are not identifying something you need to do. The information we ask for during registration is essential for proper categorisation of your account, so that we can preset some of your personal settings.
If you can't join no matter what you try, please contact us, and we'll create an account for you manually.

Why can't my password be the same as my e-mail address?
Your password is a unique word or phrase that you select. Unlike your e-mail address, your password should not correspond in any way to your identity outside the MatchMkr community — ensuring that your anonymity is protected until you decide to reveal it.

The screen name I want to use is already taken
I'm afraid that it's first come, first served on screen names. All members must have a unique screen name to avoid confusion.
If your name has been taken already, sorry. However, in that situation, we'll search our database for availability of some similar names, and if any of these are available, we'll let you see some alternative handles you could use as a screen name instead.

Your registration page tells me that my e-mail address is already being used!
It's possible that you previously signed up with MatchMkr and simply don't remember. If that's the case, click here to have a new password sent to you at that e-mail address. You can always change the password after you've logged in.
If that's not the case, double-check you've entered your e-mail address correctly. A dot in the wrong place makes all the difference!
It's also possible that someone else signed up with your e-mail address, in which case you still can sign up by creating a free web-based e-mail account — you can do this with Google Mail, Hotmail etc.
